Hudson Valley Historical Miniatures Guild (HVHMG) is a chapter of the International Plastic Modelers Society (IPMS), based in the lower Hudson Valley of New York State.
In 1986 Jimi Barton, Don Weeks and Chuck Lamb, formed HVHMG to enable figure modelers and miniatures painters to get collude, support one another, promote the hobby and enhance each other's ability.
Concurrently Roger Greimsmann, Eli Geher, Steve Whitney, Ken Hanson, Stan Waryas (and a few others) formed an IPMS chapter: Hudson Valley IPMS. With low membership plaguing the chapter and with some members also joining HVHMG, it was suggested merging the two groups (circa 2003). Thus Hudson Valley Historical Miniatures Guild/Hudson Valley IPMS was created.
In the years since, the club has grown and evolved to welcome all forms of scale modeling. This includes topics such as figures, armor, aircraft, automobile, ship, diorama, and science fiction modelers - all scales and media!
Jimi Barton was not only one of the founders of our club, but was a big contributor to the Dutchess County Fair that is held annually in Rhinebeck, N.Y. In recognition of his contributions a monument on the fairgrounds was dedicated in his honor.
