Each category allows for a single 'Out of the Box' award; the entry must be built with minimal modifications and include the kit instructions for verification.

Category Classes

  • Juniors Juniors - Categories for younger participants, typically divided by age groups to encourage youth involvement in model building.
  • Aircraft Aircraft - Categories for various scales and types of aircraft models, including propeller-driven planes, jets, and rotary-wing aircraft, with distinctions based on size and era.
  • Armor Armor - Categories for military vehicle models, including tanks and armored vehicles, often divided by scale and historical period.
  • Figures Figures - Categories for human and fantasy figure models, differentiated by size (e.g., smaller than 54mm, 54mm to 100mm, larger than 100mm) and type (e.g., busts).
  • Ships Ships - Categories for naval models, separated by scale, such as smaller than 1/500 and larger than 1/500, encompassing all types of ships.
  • Automotive Automotive - Categories for car models, covering different scales and types, including stock, custom, competition, and curbside models.
  • Trucks & Motorcycles Trucks & Motorcycles - Categories for truck and motorcycle models, covering all scales and subjects within this vehicle class.
  • Science Fiction - New: Gundam (Mecha) category! Science Fiction - Categories for science fiction and fantasy models, including beings, suits, and vehicles, with a special new category for Gundam (Mecha) models to reflect their growing popularity.
  • Real Space Real Space - Categories for models based on real-world space exploration, including rockets, satellites, and space stations, covering all scales and subjects.
  • Dioramas Dioramas - Categories for diorama models, which are detailed three-dimensional scenes that include multiple figures or vehicles, across all scales and subjects.
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous - A catch-all category for models that don't fit into the other specified categories, covering all scales and subjects.
  • Triple Crown Triple Crown - A special category that likely involves a series of awards or a prestigious recognition within the contest, spanning multiple model types or themes.

7:00 AM Vendor Setup begins.
9:00 AM Contestant Registration begins.
10:00 AM Show opens to the public.
11:45 PM Judges Meeting.
12:00 PM Contestant Registration closes.
12:15 PM Judging begins.
2:45 PM Judging ends.
(As Judging time can fluctuate this is an estimate only.)
3:00 PM Awards Ceremony.
(Typically begins within 15 minutes of the completion of Judging.)
4:00 PM Show ends.
